Posted - 05/29/2012 : 8:43:39 PM For Canadians, I recommend ARCH Canada (The Association of Registered Clinical Hypnotherapists). They have higher standards for membership than some associations (for example, mandating more hours of training) and have great rates for professional liability insurance. |

Hope this helps,

Posted - 09/21/2004 : 3:29:43 PM The American Council of Hypnotism Examiners was founded in 1980 and since then has become the primary certifying body for serious practicioners of hypnotherapy. The reason is because we have developed comprehensive training requirements for certification, namely, 300 hours of classroom training in a state licensed hypnotherapy school. A waiver can be extended for practicioners with a minimum of two years of experience. Wr currently certify in 29 countries, including China,Russia, and Iran. Posted - 08/14/2003 : 7:10:27 PM The person in question had attempted to persuade a young lady to be his subject on two occassions, and had been very pressing about it. The membership, decided that this was not acceptable behaviour, and removed him from our rosta. No member of HSA may attempt to persuade someone to allow themselve to be hypnotised simply because "one needs practise." This goes against our policy of "Client First", and brings our Society into disrepute. We also bann members for using hypnosis at parties were drinking takes place, in case such an incident occured there, and we were challenged later. We expect to stand behind our members, so we expect them to act in an apropriate manner. Terry |

Posted - 08/05/2003 : 10:06:41 AM Most interesting Terry The gentleman who was removed from your society, may i ask the reason why? This would be of interest from an ethics point of view. Mike |

Posted - 08/02/2003 : 1:27:23 PM In most cases, it is a willingness to agree to the tenets of the group, and to their code of ethics. This should be posted if an office is used, so that clients have a basis for an understanding of what the practitioner stands for, and how they may expect them to operate. If the operator does not stick to the code, he or she will be refused membership, and such may be posted publicly if desired, since only after an investigation by the governing body would any action be taken. In my own case, as President of our Society many years ago, it was my painful duty to remove a member from our rosta after a complaint was received regarding his actions. Though this was a first in his case, it was serious enough to take action at once, and I did. Other groups may well have different rules and regulations, but I am unable to speak for them Terry |

Posted - 07/31/2003 : 11:36:38 AM Sorry for the error, I said NGH in the UK when what I should have said in the US. I have no idea who is the governing body in the UK but I'm sure there is one. Terry |

Posted - 07/31/2003 : 11:29:51 AM NGH in the UK, and my own group "The Hypnosis Society of Alberta," plus similar groups in the various provinces of Canada, the names of which I am not familiar with. If you want groups south of the border in the US, visit Accelerated Changes Technology, and you will find a large group of practitioners from various places who will add to your list. Terry |
