I'm saving up a little money to purchase a hypnotherapy book and supplement my small collection of texts on the subject. I have, based on a little research, narrowed it down to either Elman's "Hypnotherapy" or Gil Boyne's "Transforming Therapy." If you could have just one of these books (I'm a poor student and cannot afford both) which would you recommend? Also, for those who own both texts, what are the differences in content between the two? |

You make me feel like I'm praying or something.... Hello lord, it's been two days since we chatted on the forum.
I have both books. It's been a while since I read them front-to-back. From my memory - Elman has good fundamentals in his book. His use of the techniques is a little dated. Boyne takes Elman's stuff and 'improves' upon the usage.
If I read Boyne before Elman, it might make Boyne more difficult to keep in context... Hypnotists (myself included) will learn techniques and then add what they find works for them and their personality. Reading Elman first, then Boyne helped me learn where I could be flexible with the approach and add my own personality to the usage.... if that makes sense.
I'd recommend getting Elman first, with plans to get Boyne soon after.
*Wonder what Gil's thought is on this?
