Hello, I would like to know why the music of the snake charmer hypnotizes his audience, and does it hypnotize the cobra? Thank you very much. |

i have also seen the"charmers" in the marketplace in marakesh and whille one "charmer" did play a chanter... but there was also a drummer who demanded cash from the onlookers... this was the guy the snakes watched... because everytime he went near them he hit them with his drum...now if he hit me everytime he came near i would watch him too.. |

I have witnessed the snake charmers in Indonesia, Malaysia and Marrakesh, Morrocco. Matrixman has it right. |

This is not in any way, a right or proper answer, to your question, yet it is, an answer, that makes sense to me.
First of all the snake in question, snakes are deaf, so it’s more down to the movement of the snake charmers, flute and the rhythmic, movements he/she makes.
Now to us humans, if you listen to any type of music that as a constant repetitive, rhythm, then our brain as a way for going along with it, the say way you would tap, your foot to a song that you like.
Now if you blend the music and the fascination of focus, then to an observer, the people might look like they are in a altered state.
