Posted - 07/24/2006 : 11:35:27 PM Are there people out there that cannot be hypnotized? I've been to 3 hypnotists and tried a few tapes with lackluster results. I can see it is very relaxing, to a point beyond what is normal for just sitting in a chair and listening to something. I can tell something is going on. Suggestions aren't effective though and I can never seem to really engage the subconscious. Visualization does not become any more vivid than my usual imagination (which I suppose is average).
I'm looking to hypnosis for 2 purposes right now. One is to deal with a specific problem, it's kind of a phobia, basically negative programming I think. The other is to learn self-hypnosis for general self-cultivation and to help me in any area I think could use it.
So after having tried for a while I'm starting to think, well I know I'm a bad subject (busy mind) but that I may not even be completely able to be hypnotized. What I'm really looking for is a fool-proof way for me to get into this. Either a tape that is guaranteed and works on everyone 100% or a hypnotherapist who has a brain wave monitor so that I can see for myself that it's working and then be able to relax more about it and put more faith in it.
So any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. I live near Philadelphia in South Jersey, if there are any hypnotherapists anywhere near there that have access to brain monitors and who are experienced working with people who are not the best subjects and starting to lose faith in the thing, I would love to hear about them.
Thanks! |

Posted - 07/19/2007 : 9:15:14 PM ANY normal person is hypnotizable, but every subject has the right to go under hypnosis with his own choice of the operator.
Some hypnotists simply cannot achieve a quality rapport with some subjects. Also, audio recordings have limitations. |

Posted - 07/02/2007 : 12:46:01 AM I've also never been able to be hypnotized. I've been on stage 3 times and have been totally unaffected despite the fact that I want to be hypnotized and I listen carefully and follow all instructions. I've also watched some videos on youtube and on some hypnotist websites such as wendi.com and nothing at all works on me. Even something simple like when I'm told that I can't open my eyes or I can't pull my hands apart, it won't work on me. However, I've never had a personal one on one session, so maybe that's what I need to do. Not being able to be hypnotized is starting to really eat at me now and when I watch a hypnotist putting someone under, I get so jealous and frustrated that it doesn't happen to me that I have trouble sleeping and can't function for the next day or two. It really bothers me. I can't enjoy watching stage shows anymore because I want to experience what those people are experiencing so badly. I just have to find out what it's like! Sometimes, alone, I even shed some tears. I think I had better make an appt. to see a hypnotist for a private session. Hopefully that will work and I'll finally get to experience it. |

Posted - 02/10/2007 : 10:48:05 AM Everyone can be hypnotized. There are people who need a differnt type of induction to be hypnotized. And unless your Hypnotherapist is educated in the various personality types. He will fail to hypnotize you.
It used to be believed that only 30% of people could be hypnotized. Dr. George Kappas found out that everyone can be hypnotized. You have to tailor your induction to your client. |

Posted - 09/30/2006 : 01:15:07 AM Thanks for the replies, I'll try that tape company.
I should say "bad hypnosis subject" rather than unhypnotizeable. I have had hypnotic experiences, just not to the practical use extent that I would like. Perhaps some have to work harder at it?
For instance, I would love to be able to interact in my mind in an environment I create, like one of those rooms they tell you to imagine. The applications to something like that are limitless... |

Posted - 09/22/2006 : 04:00:46 AM Audio tapes/CDs do have a lot of limitations, as they can not calibrate, and utilize what’s going on in any given moment, there is no such thing as being unhypnotizeable, that comes more down to the lack of skill from the hypnotist and as nothing to do with you.
One set of audio programmes that I have found live up to there word are Paul Scheele’s paraliminal CD’s fantastically well produced, and the company is incredible, if you have any issues with any of their products, they will offer you a number of free coaching sessions, or will refund your moneys, with out any fuss.

I really like Paul Scheele’s work, and have a lot of his learning programmes, check out the site and read the forum, where you can ask, questions. Etc.
Hope this was helpful

Posted - 09/21/2006 : 11:57:40 PM You WILL NOT find a tape that is guaranteed to work.. it's just not really possible. Did any of your previous hypnotists not ask you what you felt was going wrong (busy mind) and suggest another approach? |
