There is little valid use for such a method, though it can be fun to try as an experiment. First of all though, you had better be specific about what you mean by "sleep". While in deep sleep, little or no result is likely, and to get a person into the trance state it is nescessary to speak to them quietly, and bring them up to REM sleep state before proceeding to direct them to the trance state. I have noticed that many who read Elman seem to misunderstand this, and since it is many years since I read books on the subject, it may not be clear that this is the case. I would be interested in knowing why you ask this question? Terry E.

I had great sucess with the elman method. I ran a summer job program in Va. Beach last summer,and some of the students would have a hard time staying awake after lunch. Imagine their surprise when they woke up in strange surroundings! or dressed in a very particular way!
