Hi.
I have read about hypnosis on the Internet, but it's so difficult to discern what is true and not, as I'm sure you'll appreciate.
My main question is: is it actually possible to hypnotise someone, put them in a trance, then instruct them to perform acts when a certain phrase is spoken... for instance thinking they're a dog if someone says 'walkies'?
To me, this sounds like more of a Pavlovian Response Mechanism deeply set into the psyche, rather than the result of trnace inducing relaxation techniques... however time and time again you see a representation of hypnotism, particularly in stage performances, where this sort of behaviour is possible...
What are your thoughts on this?

Possible? Yes, but what sort of idiot would do that when it is just as easy to give a post hypnotic suggestion that will benifit the recipient? I speak of course from the viewpoint of a therapist, not a stage performer, were such antics are expected. Anthony.... |
