Posted - 10/14/2003 : 2:00:05 PM I have searched high and low, written letter after letter to my state and have unfortunately gotten no response as of yet.
I read the posts in the legal forums on this site regarding Indiana and it's laws or should I say and it's big brother. I am not wishing to upset anyone, but how on earth can a person become licensed and certified in the state of Indiana when....
- The person who encouraged the law into placement is no longer around the hypnotherapy community
AND
- When the ONE school that shows on the list of "accredited schools in Indiana" is no longer in existance? I tried calling several times, the phone number has been disconnected and there is no forwarding information to be found.
From what I have read (I can only assume from these pieces) that the man who encouraged the law was married to the woman who ran the ONE school and now that they have come to financial success they have ridden off into the sunset to enjoy retirement and have left those in the state who wish to practice hypnotherapy no other alternative than to do so under very specific guidelines.
It's very frustrating from where I set and would appreciate any input from other members of this board as to what may be an alternative approach at achieving my personal goal of providing this type of care option. It's bad enough that I live in the ONLY state that seems to have such a law let alone in the one county that is known to have made arrests for such practices.
Kindest regards G |

Posted - 10/17/2003 : 12:10:30 PM Hello,
This is a tough one. You will have to find out from Indiana what you would need to do to practice, if you can at all. Since all the state laws are different for each state it would be near impossible for anyone to be informed and up to date, let alone an expert on all the different laws. This is one of the reasons we made the legislation board here in the forum.
While we have all heard of strange state laws all over the US (i.e.- California law prohibits a woman from driving a car while dressed in a housecoat; In New York, it is against the law for a blind person to drive an automobile; In West Virginia, only babies can ride in a baby carriage; etc.) There are many web sites devoted to these. It would appear that Indiana is looking to try to get on these lists.
