Posted - 03/28/2013 : 5:22:52 PM It seems most forms of hypnosis and nlp use audio to make suggestions. In other words, the therapist "says" something to the patient.
I'm more of a visual person. I'm looking for any techniques or conditioning that uses mostly images or visuals to direct changes in the individual. I don't mean those abstract optical illusions. I mean images with real people, places or things.
I think a 'vision board' is what I'm talking about. But are there others? Thanks.

Posted - 04/16/2013 : 02:19:43 AM A vision board is ok but you have to look at it and it limits your perception to what you see. But if you think of where your vision originates and how you transform the cells in front of you into the perception of the image you create then you can and do also use that same part of your brain to create images that you cannot necessarily 'see' in the regular sense of the word. Everyone and especially visual people are constantly creating pictures as they hear things, whether that is 'Be careful when crossing the road' (the image would be of a dangerous road situation) or a story about a trip to the countryside. These are going on all the time and often without you being aware. Hypnosis is about introspection and about the freedom to think creatively and abstractly in order to reach a goal and there is a lot more flexibility with interpretation if you have no set limits i.e. your eyes are closed so no outside stimuli and you interpret the words of your therapist as you choose to 'hear' them (if you are a visual person, making a picture). Vision boards would be like positive suggestions that you were able to display and remind yourself about your aims every day. When you are constructing your vision board it is coming through intellectual thought processes that you control (and that you could be stuck in) when you visualise internally you are giving more free reign to your free thinking and loosing that control - it can often be more revealing and constructive.
I know that there can be very good results with a specialist therapist using any kind of prop if they ask the right questions once a vision board has been constructed for instance to break down 'control issues' but I believe that the quickest way to achieve is though introversion.
