The state of consciousness in which a person apparently loses the power of voluntary action and is highly responsive to suggestion or direction. Its use in therapy, typically to recover suppressed memories or to allow modification of behavior by suggestion, has been revived but is still controversial.It is also known as the state of consciousness produced by hypnosis.

Thanks for the suggestion on books. But a better way may be to actually attend a self hypnosis work shop |

I personally recommend The How-To Book Of Hypnotism by Tom Silver and Ormond McGill. |

There are lot of books available in the market but i would suggest you to go for "Learn Hypnosis... Now!". It will give you the answers of your questions. You can purchase it amazon. |
