A "must-have" innovative blend of Gestalt therapy & and hypnotherapy
I’m certain most members will know Gil Boyne, one of the most celebrated American authorities on hypnotherapy, and no stranger to our shores. Although I’m not a hypno-analyst myself I regard his work as perhaps the best example of the analytic tradition in hypnotherapy and an indispensible addition to the library and clinical armamentarium of any serious hypnotherapist. Gil is known for his benign authoritative style and his dramatic ability to inspire favourable expectations, attitudes, and motivations among his clients.
This is a superb text, a classic of the genre, which includes several transcriptions of live therapy demonstrations with Boyne's insightful explanatory comments throughout. The last section contains very concise and to the point advice on specific interventions and general maxims for the therapist. Gestalt dialogue and sentence stemming are the natural development of hypnotic regression therapy and Boyne demonstrates perfectly how to combine these two approaches into a form of advanced hypnotic insight therapy, which he calls "Transforming Therapy". The accompanying CD delivers an excellent programming script for self-hypnosis and a program for improving performance as a hypnotherapist. (I used to listen to the old cassette version every day myself.) This book will teach you how to vastly and easily improve your own analytic hypnotherapy results by using Gil’s famous "Transforming Therapy" techniques.
