Happy Holidays Everyone!
I am in need of a script for pain modification for migraines. I have a client that has seen a neurologist and there is no physical cause for the migraines. I have not assisted many clients with pain mgmt. so I am requesting assistance from you. Any help would be appreciated.

Just a note about migraines.
I have worked with migraine clients for over 20 yrs and have found that most of the time it is stress related. Therefore I would advise you to try a session as follows.
1. Use what ever induction technique you find most appropriate.
2. If the client isn't having a migraine when they enter trance state, suggest a mild one.
3. Now reinforce a deeper sence of relaxation using controled breathing as a triger, suggesting that it will desolve the pain with each breath taken.
4. go through this exercise a few times while client is in trance (suggesting the pain and then showing how the breathing patterns cause relaxation and inturn disapate the pain.
5. Remind clients that they can obtain the same results in a waking state, and with in a few days they might notice the migraine attackes growing farther and farther appart.
6. After waking your client explain that regardless how good they feel , you want them in for a couple of follow up appointments to not only check there progress but to reinforce the suggestions given above.
Note that sometimes there are underlying causes that even the MDs over look, for example.......
I had one client that came in with headaches (really just headaches) but after going over intake assessments, found that they had just had a lot of dental work.
So what does dental work have to do with headaches/migraines you might ask? Simply this because of the tilt of the head and neck during said dental work a subluxation occured in the atlas and axis (top 2 vertebras) thereby causing the headache! Not somthing most would catch but as my son is a chiropractor I picked up a little from him.
I could go on and on and on about this subject but wont as I'm sure others have there own input.
My only other advice is to try to find the simplest reason first before you get into age regresson etc. Very time consuming and sometimes to no avail.

Hi Mindmjk,
Before digging through scripts. Have you considered using regression first to uncover what the possible causes are for the migraines. I would imagine if the neurologist isn't able to find an actual cause for the them, perhaps this venue will give the resources and inputs you'll need to banish the pain.
