Does anyone have any good ideas/suggestions for scripts etc. to use with clients with a phobia of water. My client would like to take up swimming as a leisure activity but is scared to go to the pool.

I would just like to make a warning in regards to people with water phobias. This isn't the be all and end all of course, as it may not be the case. However I have found that in some instances fear of water is related to sexual abuse at an early age. Again, this is not to say that is the case with everyone. I'm just urging caution if you do a regression that you're aware of what you might be getting yourself into.
For those wondering, the reason for the fear is because the majority of sexual abuse at an early age tends to take place in the bathroom, from what I have found anyways. |

Try using systematic desensitisation but in the imagination, through guided visualisation, under hypnosis. Make sure that you have a good IMR or other signal established so that the subject can let you know instantly when there is any discomfort, then take him or her back to a safe place and start again. I have used this successfully with a range of phobias.

Hello! I would suggest that first find out if they can remember an incident that would explain the phobia (or fear?) of water. Possibly a regression to an earlier part of their life, something they may have forgotten about. If there does not seem to be anything there, I would then move on to explore past life. It is then a matter of working through the experience and making peace with what has happened. I don't use a script for fears and phobias but flow with the information I receive from my client. Hope this helps a bit.
