Posted - 05/12/2005 : 2:41:05 PM While searching for herpes info on the internet, I came accros a website (link removed by moderator) which claims to suppress herpes outbreaks using self hypnosis for about $45/US.
Is this truely possible???
I would pay a lot more if it were, but i have been dissapointed in other treatments and promised myself i wouldn't jump without some research.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated! |

Actually if you review my post I didn't say cure, I said suppress - I think there is a difference. I find some credence in the claims made since stress, anxiety, and other psychological states are precursors to cold sore outbreaks for many people.
Does hypnosis help to put our fears, stress, etc. into proper perspective? If so, I am quite confident it can make a positive impact on ailments that manifest themselves through these psychological states.
I appreciate your comments, however abrasive and unconstructive. |

Posted - 05/12/2005 : 10:51:23 PM Actually not a spammer at all - just someone who suffers from cold sores and came upon that website while looking for help! I am very discouraged now that I see the posts from the 'experts' telling me it just snake oil :( - I was quite excited when i read their claims... but i guess that's what they feed on.
I'm sorry if including the website made anyone think i was pushing the product or site - not my intention at all!
If anyone does have first hand experience with (not curing) suppressing outbreaks with hypnosis I'd truly appreciate their perspective.
Thanks and sorry for any misunderstanding. |

I think this person was just a spammer. We have seen this quite a lot lately - they come in, look for a conversation (or start a new one) that has to do with thier web site product and then they leave a post advertising the web site link, usually poorly disquised as a comment or question.
As you can see we have taken to removing the web site link when the post is from someone who is spamming. |

Posted - 05/12/2005 : 7:55:48 PM In my long career, I have seen many organic forms of pathology and dysfunction overcome with hypnotherapy. Sometimes, It has seemed miraculous. However, self-hypnosis is NOT the way to go. The reason is that we all have a developed cynical disbelief in our ability to use our own powers in our own behalf. It is much easier to invest another with healing power. An experienced, passionate hypnotherapist can create an healing environment of divine love. It is true that all trance response originates internally but you cannot work with both levels of mind when you are in trance, A hypnotherapist works with both conscious and subconscious levels of mind, often simultaneously. Most often, when I worked with organic pathology, I worked on a "no result,--no fee is charges". Start searching for a hypnotist who will commit to helping you in this way. You have nothing to lose but the ailment. The worst that can happen is you can be disappointed, Disappointment is not a fatal ailment . Good Luck in your search to discover your healing power. With Respect. |
