hello
i've been doing a concentration exercise called trataka for few days
where one has to gaze upon a special symbol (called shakti chakra, somewhat
like a hypnodisk). I have based my exercise upon the instructions given
in a book called 'practical hypnotism'( i forgot the writer). But in the
partiular book the writer has not stated anything about inner gazing or
holding the after image of that 'shakti-chakra' but instead just look upon
it as long as you can without batting eye-lids. But in other yoga-journals
and articles i've read, the inner gazing is also stated in most of them. So
I'm in a dilemma what to do because if i skip the inner gazing process my
exercise will finish in a few moments 'coz I cannot keep my eye-lids fixed
more than score of seconds. Another thing, just after i finish gazing process
should i perform palming of eyes or just close the eyes? Also, does this
exercise help to minimise eye defects or a person with eye-defect should
discontinue it?
