My favorite way to have a lucid dream is to go directly from being awake to being in a dream. I used to happen frequently when I was back in grade school. I would re-enter dreams, but back then I didn't know it was possible to do this without having been asleep first. Every time I try this now, I just slide into regular sleep without knowing when it happened. Or worse, sleep doesn't come at all. My eventual goal is to go into deep sleep with awareness, but the dream work seems to have to come first. What can I do to stop missing that moment when being awake turns into sleep?
