Posted - 05/07/2015 : 9:19:20 PM I have been doing hypnosis with my therapist for over a year and I can't visualize so he has to do it another way. Well now we are wanting to explore my past to help things come out but I can't visualize the event. If I talk about them or think about them I am affected but visualizing the scenario is just not possible for me. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions that me and my therapist could try since I can not visualize. |

Posted - 12/26/2019 : 11:50:48 PM Hi All, This is me coming back after a few years being away for 4 years. So what has changed. Well. I am now a qualified & licenses clinical hypnotherapist and have had the honour of being taught by some great teachers. The subject of visualisation is in fact so important and often mentioned in passing. But Self Talk and Visualisation are the pillars of Self Efficacy and (to some extent) Self Hypnosis. I am currently exploring the subject of Visualisation and Self Hypnosis and will highly recommend reading Shakti Gawains classic Creative Visualization. Till next time. Have a great holiday and happy new year |

Posted - 03/01/2016 : 07:48:03 AM Interesting post kthornton79. I have a similar issue that I have used conversational hypnosis but visualising is the key I suppose. This may sound a bit trivial but the other day I went to a diner with a plan on eating healthy but the moment I saw and smelled the aroma of a grilled steaks I simply "froze". Yes "Froze" is the right word because I simply had not prepared or visualised dealing with the smell and sound of a grilled steak and hence I did not know how to avoid it.
Conversely hours before I act out my bad habit I already have the "Vision" and even though my self talk is focused on countering vision, I don't have the right +ve vision to face off with the -ve unwanted vision / mental movie.
I think a person needs a +ve Visualisation to counter a -ve Visualisation
Visualisation is a much more powerful hypnotic tool. Conversational hypnosis it self may not sometimes be sufficient. |

Posted - 02/15/2016 : 11:44:20 PM I would focus on the feelings of certain events. At times you can get images, symbols or sensations. Not a visual scene. A good way to test it is to see if when you close your eyes, can you imagine a pink elephant. If you can, then start small on something like that and build upon the details of the pink elephant. It might help. Just a thought. |
