Can someone please let me know whether it is possible to be hypnotised whilst asleep? My friend believes that this may have happened to her, and i need some info to give her. |

You have just reminded me of an old friend. While he was a teenager he was very secretive about his daily whereabouts, so his mother would ask him questions while he was asleep, and he'd respond to whatever she asked.
It has been known for a very long time that while people are undergoing surgery and are considered to be unconscious, their minds are receptive to the comments made by surgeons accidental remarks regarding how well the person may or may not be doing.
Incidentally, the reason that throughout history many people have been practice remote forms of hypnosis on others during the night, is because it's the easiest time to send messages to another person's subconscious as the conscious mind is asleep and the subconscious is wide open. |

I first hypnotised my wife while she slept [though what exact state of sleep I am unaware]so it is possible. |

Hi Charlotte, In my experience a person who is asleep will not be hypnotised. If she was just in a drowsy daydreaming state she was already in a state of hypnosis and would possibly be receptive to suggestion. While she was asleep however the subconscious mind hears everything that is being said around her and might form new attitudes based on this subliminal input. I hope tis helps. R.
