Posted - 05/23/2012 : 10:36:05 AM Good afternoon folks, I'm new to hypnotism in general, the last couple of weeks, I've been listening to some mp3's and found great relaxation, and improvement in the areas I was looking for.
However, last night I listened to a relaxing playback at around 3-4 am (one I've listened to before, and it does the trick to get me back to sleep) this last time though, while "going deeper" I suddenly had my head filled with scarey images and sounds. I could see rotting bodies floating in a sea of black, and hear gut wrenching screams. (They weren't people I knew fortunately). I was able to "throw them out" so to speak, I said quite strongly in my mind, no I don't want these this isn't right take them away. They faded, and although tempted to turn off the recording, I let it play, and the rest of the session continued very nicely. I've been walking around with a calm relaxed graceful feeling all day
I know/assume it can't be down to this recording, as I've used it a few times before, and possibly every night for the last week.
This was disturbing enough, that had it been my first experience of these sessions, I wouldn't touch hypnosis again with a barge pole.
Please can anybody help me understand what this is? I have had a look on the internet, and can't find anything regarding this situation. I do have vague suspicions, but I don't want to colour other peoples thoughts, and I may be way off the mark anyway, so I'm going to keep them to myself for now, but please any guidelines, interpretations, or impressions would be of great help |

Posted - 10/01/2014 : 7:50:15 PM Hi there, I was also mentioning my disturbed occurences here and I would like to note that I have used my own hypnosis methods too. I also tried on line as well. I am afraid to try again as it has produced some very horrifying images near the end. ?? I'm glad to hear that other people also have had this happen. I would like to learn more about it. Maybe some brain imaging to see the relating brain areas that happen during these odd occurences.
Hmm! |

Posted - 09/25/2014 : 2:42:33 PM Julie, You brought out some interesting thoughts. There are a lot of people that would pay for your "dreams" the gore and all. However, that is not what you are looking for. First, maybe you are past your recordings now. Rather than depending on your recordings to drop you down, depend on yourself. Maybe it is time to read how to self-hypnotize and take back control. I think self-hypnosis also can be a cleansing process. Mop up some of those dasterdly embedded thoughts you have. Relax more and don't start hypnotizing yourself with the fear of bad images. Expect something different. You will get there. |

Posted - 09/25/2014 : 12:02:47 AM I've also had disturbing visuals after or during hypnotherapy on the three different accounts that I have tried this. once when I was 21, then later in my thirties and then again recently. The first one was post a hypnotherapy session and during a yoga class shivasana (sp?) and then the second was the next day post hypnotherapy and the third was during the hypnotherapy session. The first time I had dreams of my sisters as children getting slaughtered and blood everywhere, and the second was this horrid worm like creature with a round mouth and teeth and it was crawling beneath my skin until I saw it face to face in a sterile white hallway in my vivid vision, and then the third was another horrying creature that came at me during the hynosis and I awoke out of the hynosis and was creeped out tremedously. I am now afraid of what might be happening to my brain or soul during these sessions that seem so innocently positive. A friend brought me a book about dream travel and that it is possible to experience succubi. Maybe it is something similar? |

There is a slippery balance in there that I struggle to keep too. |

Posted - 05/24/2012 : 03:24:22 AM Just to let you know, last night was fine.
When I thought about our conversation, realising it came from within, and started to think about the stresses I went through last year, wait no..... last 2 years......... er no actually last 3...... 4..... then actually it makes a lot of sense.
maybe I could find a script or recording to help me work out what I want. I "want" to help people, but I "need" to put food on the table :/ |

I assume you're saying that this state is "neutral" like any tool, it's what results from it that makes it good or bad. But yes you've given me a better and less worrying understanding. For now I'll just put it down to "one of those things" and see what happens............
now.......... if you could just help me choose a career direction, I'd be well on the way to being sorted lol

Posted - 05/23/2012 : 6:13:46 PM Yes, hypnosis is intentionally obtaining, and sustaining, a mental state that we automatically go into around 3/4 of our day.
It is a state we pass through on the way to full sleep.
From what you have described, I'd venture to say you had a dream while entering sleep. My question would be what would instigate such a troubling dream.
Good or bad... it's a bad thing if it continues and affects your hypnosis practice. It's a bad thing if it's a sign of some unresolved emotional issue. It's a good thing if that dream is helping your resolve an emotional issue. It's a good thing if it goes away.
Sort of hard for me to answer that part. :) |

Posted - 05/23/2012 : 5:47:58 PM "Well, my first impression is you were achieving depth toward a dream state"
So, you're saying it is just as possible to have a "dream or nightmare" during hypnosis as it is when you're asleep?
Aside from the obvious with last nights being unpleasent, is this generally a good thing or a bad thing? sorry if it's a stupid a question, but my total experience so far is motivation recordings, and the relaxing one to help you practice |

Posted - 05/23/2012 : 5:02:30 PM Well, my first impression is you were achieving depth toward a dream state. And that would mean those images were a creation of your own mine... fears, whatever. How relevant they are is a question.
They could by signs of behaviors to address, or they could just be a flash of thought that is now meaningless. |

Posted - 05/23/2012 : 4:53:06 PM yes just the once, last night, but it was scarily vivid, the screams were almost audible.
I've not watched or read things that could have caused it, ty anyway |

Posted - 05/23/2012 : 4:40:29 PM I don't know what you're listening to, but I'm going to assume it is not creating those images in your mind.
Recent exposure to books, movies, news, whatever that has to do with that type if imagery?
History of trauma in your own past?
It's happened only once? |
