Posted - 06/20/2011 : 3:16:45 PM Ive tried self-hypnosis in the past to reprogram my subconscious mind, but Im not sure why I never got it to work. I used a script taken from William Hewitts book Hypnosis for Beginners. I didnt actually do it exactly as he said to, as that wouldve required me to make more than one recording, one for each session. I just wanted to make one recording of session one and listen to that over and over for each session rather than make a few recordings for different sessions. I assume the only reason he made each session slightly differet was to keep the listener from getting sick of hearing the same one over and over. But, I wouldnt have thought that wouldve made a difference would it?
Ive never bought a professional hypnosis recording, but Im wondering if they usually have more than one session on the recording or if you they just have one session that you listen to over and over again. Does it even matter?
After all, I think I did cover ever thing. It has an induction, deepener, progressive relaxation, suggestion, and brings you back out. That is everything isnt it?
My suggestion script was for overcoming social anxiety. I listened to it once a day for maybe four weeks, but I didnt feel any different. Anyone have any thoughts as to why it wasnt successful? |

Posted - 06/20/2011 : 3:38:23 PM If there are only slight differences, it isn't going to make a difference. If you're listening to it for weeks at a time, then, yes, a person would get bored with it.
It can matter, depends on the style and techniques used. There can be a change in the terminology to represent progression in regards to the targeted issue.
Yes, those are all the basic steps. There can be variations in the quality of each of those steps, and the style used can have different results depending on the individual using them.
My thoughts - social anxiety can be attributed to inner self-worth/confidence issues. With that in mind, how much worth/confidence did you attribute to your efforts? If doubts are present, those doubts can influence your perception of anything/everything you do, which may devalue your perceived quality of the efforts you put forth.
This jives with the questions you're asking. You did things correctly - as the book described, but still sound like you're questioning yourself.
Low perceived value will affect your results.
This is where you have to decide what you're going to to...
1. Continue with these efforts on your own - in whatever direction that takes you.
2. Get a "qualified" professional to help you.
Please notice that there is no 3rd option available. :) |
