My wife and I have a 3 month old. She hasn't produced enough milk to supply all the babies needs since the baby was a few days old. My wife hasn't given up though. She continues to breast feed frequently and pump. She's taking medication to try to increase her supply and of course this is only a supplement for the baby. She's producing less than 10% of the baby's needs. I know this is hard on her mentally. She's coping with it well now but it has taken a little time to get to this point.
Can hypnosis help? Can anyone direct me to a subject script that would be appropriate for this special situation...
I guess I should add that there are physical reasons that she isn't lactating enough. She has PCOS. This stopped her from getting pregnant for years but we over came that with some minor diet changes... this hasn't helped with the lactation though.
Any help will be greatly appreciated by both of us. |

No problem.
We have a 2 1/2 year old. My wife had PCOS too. Milk production was low - though not as low as your wife is getting. My wife's production picked-up. She attributes that to the hypnosis during childbirth and the continued stress reduction afterward, but it's difficult to say for sure. She DID benefit from the stress reduction either way.

I'd focus on her stress levels first. This 'may' allow an increase in milk production. And, the reduction in mom's stress will be better for the baby as she will pick-up mom's stress cue's.
As for hypnosis helping increase production directly.. unlikely as you are working against screwy hormone levels from the PCOS.... I've never worked with this issue myself.. but if I did, I'd focus on stress reduction as the primary goal and hormone/milk production secondary goal. |
