Posted - 11/17/2008 : 3:55:03 PM Hi All, I was hoping that someone can lead me in the right direction. I have a irrational fear of change and it is really starting to hold me back in live. I would like to change jobs but there is always something in the back of my mind stopping me from making the step. At the moment I finish every day at 6.00 am to 2.30 pm in a dead end factory job. They know want us to work while 4.15pm, Monday and Tuesday, work while 2.30pm on Wednesday and Thursday and finish at 10 am on Friday. Perfect for most people but I don’t want to do it just because it is change!!
Why do I fear things changing in my live? What can I do to alter my thinking, to realise that sometimes change is good. I always look on the dark side of live. I will often wake up in the night thinking stupid thought, thinking that something silly will happen to my kids etc. I want to try self hypnosis but what kind of suggestions can I give myself to help combat my fears. Any help will be much appreciated. Please don’t tell me to seek a professional hypnotherapist as I just could not afford it and I want to learn to tackle it on my own.
Many thanks Jordancorey

Posted - 11/18/2008 : 06:12:13 AM Jordan, Do you buy cigarettes, beer or spirits, go to movies or plays, go on holidays or other uses of your money? Your enjoyment of life and all that it holds will be greatly magnified when you are free of your neurosis. Save or borrow the money to see a hypnotherapist. You only live once and money comes and money goes!

Posted - 11/17/2008 : 5:15:58 PM Thanks patrickg, But i can't afford a qualified hypnotist, every penny i get goes on running the house and kids. I have got worse since i have had kids as I like to spend most of my spare time with them and finishing at 2.30 allows me to pick them up from school. I guess i fear not being able to do this and not being able to spend as much time with them if I swop jobs and finish later. I need to change my mind set.... |

Posted - 11/17/2008 : 4:24:27 PM Your most effective use of time and money is to find a qualified hypnotist to help you. There. I said it.
It sounds like you're describing a fairly well established behavior. Something you've already tried to work against without progress. If you're intent on using self-hypnosis, it would help you to understand what it is your afraid of. What is it you're afraid the change will result in. Once you know that, then you can more accurately address it with self-hypnosis. Which, will probably be filled with a fair amount of effort, trial and error, and frustration. It can take weeks or months to find long term benefit, but even that is a low probability. How many hours of work it will take to do this is anyone's guess.
If you find a good hypnotist, you'll work through it in a couple sessions and move on with your life. |
