Here's an interesting case. I have a client whom I've been working with for over a year on a semi regular basis. This woman has lost forty pounds and has a wonderful new self image. She has also gottne past some pretty wicked childhood trauma and forgiven some actions by others. She was a serious nail biter and that is now gone. However, she has started picking and chewing at her cuticles. I don't want to go down the wrong road here, because this girl has come too far. I am of the opinion that this is about some old fears that haven't yet been addressed....or is it a simple transference? Any words of wisdom will be appreciated

Are you familiar with the Diagnostic Scan technique for identifying stressful periods in the client's past which have a bearing upon the current presenting problem? Follow with age-regression therapy to release the pent-up, unresolved issues? May be worth a try if neither she nor you can identify the probable roots of the presenting issue consciously. Leo

Have you tried putting her in trance and suggesting that she go to the source of her cuticle picking and chewing? It may sound rather simplistic but this simple open ended suggestion can bring up some amazing stuff... if the client is willing to give up the behavior and explore it's source. Just a thought, Ananda

Thinking out loud here...
1) Biting her nails and now cuticles - is this a sub-concious metaphor for self consumption as a result of feeling bad about how she looked/looks now? If she still has a terrible sub-concious self image perhaps this is what is eating away at her (if you will pardon the pun) 2) She has the answer - if you have succeeded in a trasferance then transfere the cuticle biting to something acceptable and safe. If this doesnt work you know the problem lies deeper. I hope this sparks the inspiration you need to help the girl - I dont prophess to be expert above others - let us know how you get on.
